Expanding our 2018 brand system for digital marketing

THE TASK 

HOW TO EXPAND A LANGUAGE

In 2018, Automattic's Creative Studio worked with the agency Design Studio to update our visual brand. The Creative Studio was given the initial stylistic elements and then set to developing them for our various channels and projects. 

I was tasked with adapting the visuals to suit a wide range of digital marketing channels, including email, social, and display. 

My main focus was establishing a consistent use of color, shape and stock photography. Our digital teams didn't have the budget to create new photography. So our brand style needed to be executed in a way that would give us dynamic but consistent creative while only using stock imagery. 

The resulting work included some of our highest-ever performing social ads. Because who doesn't love a Corgi?
